What is the FINE Checklist?

The FINE checklist is a tool to help you recognize signs that you might need support. If you’re experiencing any of the FINE symptoms, consider reaching out to our PAG peer supporters for a chat.

01

Family and Friends

It’s normal to occasionally want some alone time or to feel overwhelmed by social interactions. However, if you find yourself consistently avoiding close family and friends, preferring isolation over connection, it might be a sign of social isolation. This could indicate that something deeper is affecting you. Talking to someone can help you understand and address these feelings.

02

Intoxication

Using substances like alcohol or medication to relax or cope is common, but when it becomes a dependency, it’s a red flag. If you rely on these substances to feel "normal" or to get through daily life, it might be time to seek help. This could be a sign of an underlying issue, such as depression, that needs attention. Let us support you in finding healthier ways to cope.

03

Negativity

Everyone has bad days, but if you’re constantly feeling helpless, worthless, or stuck in a cycle of negative thoughts like “Why me?” or “What’s the point?”, it’s worth addressing. Persistent negativity can weigh heavily on your mental health. A conversation with us might help you break free from these patterns.

04

Emptiness

Feeling disconnected, unmotivated, or questioning your purpose in life can happen to anyone. While these feelings are often temporary, if they persist and lead to a sense of hopelessness or worthlessness, it’s important to reach out. Talking to someone can help you regain perspective and find meaning again.
