HOME NURSING FOUNDATION

We are thankful to the group of pioneers who laid the brick and mortar for Singapore. Some of them are now facing chronic health problems at old age. Since 2007, about $401,600 was donated to subsidize about 25,000 (80% means test patients, about $700 household income) nursing visits or an average of 200 patients per year.

We had been distributing goodie bags in Hari Raya, Deepavali and Chinese New Year to patients living in marginal financial conditions. More than 1,000 goodie bags have been distributed since 2007.

SUNBEAM PLACE

They are a group of less privileged children that through no fault of theirs, were not unable to stay with their families, Sunbeam Place then became their home. Some of them were only 3-4 year old in 2007 and now going for their O levels, the older ones are already working.

$50,000 was donated in 2017, with an additional $20,900 (Airshow 18) made it a total of $70,900 for FY17/18. Since 2007, ALPA-S had donated a running total of $570,109.

Due to exceptional circumstances, most of them could not go back home to celebrate festive seasons, hence every year, we had also been hosting a Chinese New Year celebration for them.

CHILDREN CANCER FOUNDATION

Every year, there are about 200 children ranging from 2-18 years old that suffer from various types of cancers. Amongst these children, about 90% of them comes from less privileged families. We had hosted them for simulator rides in STC 2017 May during SIA Family Day and also the visit to Airshow 2018 in Feb.

$20,900 were raised from Airshow 2018 for CCF, this money will provide scholarship and bursary to about 27 students. They are warriors who fought the cancer battles on one hand and yet able to cope with their academic studies well.

An airplane model will be given to each of them with the tagline: “You are the Pilot of your own Destiny, FIGHT ON.” The award will be presented on 2nd Jun at KK Hospital.

LEE AH MOOI OLD AGE HOME

Established in the mid-1960s by the late Madam Lee Ah Mooi who opened the doors of her Kampong Chong Pang residence to retired Samsui women and former Amahs who wanted a trained nurse to help care for them during their twilight years.

In 2017 and 2018 Dec, ALPA-S distributed Christmas goodie bags to 110 aged bed ridden patients who could not afford the expensive profit-driven private homes. They are our pioneer generation averaging 88 year old, the oldest was a lady borne in 1912 (106 year-old).

ASIAN WOMEN’S WELFARE ASSOCIATION (AWWA)

AWWA is an organization which provides aid and support to different community groups. In 2017, partnering Cabin Crew 5Cs, we distributed goodies bags to the low income elderly at the Senior Activity Centre (SAC). SAC provides recreational and social activities for seniors who are at least 60 years old and who reside in the rental blocks of Block 123 and 125, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6.

Unfortunately, due to resource and manpower constraints, we are not able to join 5Cs in 2018.

BEST STUDENTS AWARDS – POLYTECHNICS

In 2017 and 2018, we gave away model airplanes to the best aviation students in Ngee Ann, Singapore and Nanyang Polytechnics. As part of the effort to strengthen our ties with the community, we look forward to fostering mentorship programs, sending our pilots back to their respective schools.
